US sharemarkets fell on Thursday on fading optimism for progress on Ukraine-Russia peace talks. Traders await the all-important month-to-month job figures on Friday. The Dow Jones index closed decrease by 550 factors or 1.6% and the S&P 500 index misplaced 1.6%. The Nasdaq index shed 222 factors or 1.5%. In March, the Dow rose 2.3%; S&P 500 rose 3.6%; and the Nasdaq rose 3.4%. Within the March quarter the S&P 500 fell by 4.9% and Nasdaq fell 9.1%.
