Pitso Mosimane’s Al Ahly score SIX to cruise into CAF Champions League group stage


Pitso Mosimane’s Al Ahly cruised into the group stages of the CAF Champions League with a home 6-1 victory over Niger’s USGN on Saturday.

Al Ahly took a 2-1 lead into the half-time break thanks to goals by Mohamed Sherif (ninth minute) and Mohamed Magdi Kafsha (17th minute) while USGN replied through Hinsa Issoufou (35th minute).

In the second half it was all Al Ahly as they added a further four goals by Kafsha (58th minute), Hussein El Shahat (65th minute), Kahraba (68th minute) and Hamdi Fathi (90th minute) to give the Egyptian giants a 7-2 aggregate victory and a spot in the group stages.

There was no sign of Percy Tau in Al Ahly’s squad as the Bafana Bafana star was made to wait a while longer for his debut with his new club.
